LMK04828: Can I leave OSCIN_P and OSCIN_N pins unconnected (NC)?

Part Number: LMK04828

I am currently designing a board using the [Insert your exact part number here, e.g., LMK04828].

Based on my current system design, I do not plan to use the OSCIN input. I would like to ask if it is acceptable to leave the OSCIN_P and OSCIN_N pins completely unconnected (NC), as shown in the attached schematic snippet.

Specifically, I have the following questions:

Is it safe to leave these pins floating (NC), or is it recommended to tie them to GND (e.g., via a resistor or capacitor) to prevent any noise issues?

Are there any specific register configurations required to disable this input properly if the pins are left unconnected?

I have attached a partial schematic for your reference.

Thank you for your time and support.

Best regards,

  • Hi There,

If you are not using OSCin, you can simply leave the pins floating and then power down OSCin buffer with OSCin_PD = 1.

Since you are not using OSCin, both PLLs are not used, you can also leave CPout2 floating.
