MSP430FR6007: ACLK forwarding to ext. device

Part Number: MSP430FR6007

Hello,

I´v got some questions regarding forwarding the MSP430 ACLK on P9.3 to an external device.

Conditions:

  • ACLK is sourced by dig. ext. 32.768kHz oscillator on LFXIN
  • ACLK is output on P9.3 continously over whole lifetime
  • lifetime is 12 to 16 years
  • operating temperature: -20°C to +75°C

Questions:

  • what is the max. load capacitance the output can drive? Within the datasheet the electrical specifications are measured @ 20pF
  • is the output stable over the full lifetime? are there any experiences regarding this?
  • what is the current consumption with the output active? Cload * f * VDD?

Thank you and best regards

Philip

  • Hi Philip,

    1. As far as I know we don't have specific maximum load capacity requirements data, all the spec data should be listed in the datasheet.

    2. Commonly we use clock output for some testing like verifying the clock frequency accuracy, thus have no experience for this kind of application.

    3. You can use the formula to estimate the dynamic power consumption of capacitive loads.

    Best Regards,
    Peter
