LMK1D2108: LVDS Signal Termination resistor problem

Part Number: LMK1D2108

As far as I know, for an ordinary LVDS differential signal, even if it passes through multiple ICs, you only need to add a single termination resistor across the entire signal line.

Is this condition still valid when passing the LMK1D2108 Buffer? Or should I apply terminating resistance handling to both the front and back lines of the buffer?

  • Hello,

You need to terminate the signal near the input receiver of each IC through which the signal passes (assuming the IC does not have internal termination). The LVDS input to the LMK1D series needs to be terminated differentially with 100Ohms just before the input. The same can be said of the input of the next device in the signal chain.

    Thanks,
