Devices for nanaseconds delay

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMK04803, CDCF5801A

Hello,

I need a circuit or a device which introduces a tunable delay in a range starting from few nanoseconds to 200ns. Could you help me, please?

  • Hello,

For clocking applications you might consider looking at the digital delay features of the LMK04800 family.  Please note that the LMK04803 can generate a frequency as low as 1840 MHz VCO frequency / 8 / 1045 = ~220 kHz which has a period of ~4.5 us.

The smallest delay steps possible would be a VCO cycle half-step 0.5 / 1840 MHz = ~271.7 ps.

Outputs may be delayed from 4.5 to 522 VCO cycles.  This allows for delays in ~272 ps steps to 281.25 ns = (522 - 4.5) * 1/1840 MHz.

Please note that the LMK04800 family device is very flexible for operation in dual loop, single loop, or clock distribution modes.  Digital delay, and dynamic digital delay works in all modes.

  • For clock signals, you can also check CDCF5801A

  • Hhhhm, I think that it's better to explain the problem with a picture.

Input signal (f=8MHz) should be retarded. This delay should be in the range [10 -200 ] ns. Dealy must be tunable by the user in an easy way.
