It depends on your requirements. You can check the sensitivity of timing intervals against variations of supply voltage on page 5 of the datasheet

In addition to what Albert said, The VCC ripple can be filtered at the CONT pin to limit its effect on the timing thresholds.
The cutoff frequency of the RC low pass filter is about Fc=1/(21,000*C)
If the timing interval is much greater than the ripple period (1/F[ripple]) then filtering the supply for the charging resistor should not be required. If the timing interval is less than the ripple period then the charging current will be modulated by the ripple.
