CDCE913 Programming Problem with Pro-Clock

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CDCE913, CDCEL913

Hello Everyone,

We are trying to program the CDCE913.  All of the drivers are correctly installed, the jumpers are correctly set, and the voltage LEDs are lit.

When the software is started, I press the "Programming EVM Tool" and the "TI Clock Programmer" window comes up where you then press "Find Boards"  It successfully finds the CDCE913/CDCEL913(COM10) in the "Select Boards" window and is checked.  I'm able to turn on and off in the mini Serial communications window that pops up.

However, when I go back to the first window that pops up and hit "Skip", the "Select Device" window with the green dot never shows that the EVM is communicating.  I then hit OK and the large window comes up.  Still the green light is dark, and when I press the "Read from Device" button, I get a "Device Not Detected" in the upper right window.

From reading other posts, I have consulted scau026a.pdf and 2086.annexeDebuggingProgrammingEVM.docx.

Can you tell me where I'm making my mistake?

Thanks a lot,

Rick

  • Hello Rick,

if you`re using the programming EVM, it won’t be detected by the main GUI.
So what you need is a setting file for the CDCE913.

    Step by Step:
    Start the TiClockPro Software,

If you want to generate a setup, set the input frequency, the number of outputs (max. 3 for CDCE913 ) and the desired output frequencys you want , after that click on "Generate Setup".

Select the desirerd setup and click on "view setup" and continue to the Main view.
(be sure to select a CDCE913 setting)

If not using the wizard skip the first window and select ind the following window the CDC913  from the dropdown menu, click on "OK" to load the default settings into the main view. Here you can adjust everything.

For a quick overview select "Help"->"Documentation" (Headsection) or view this guide about the CDCE(L)9xx_EVM.
Now you need to save the settings:
      "File"->"save" (setup,.csv,.txt,.hex, does not matter)
    Now open the Programming Tool.
"Tools"->"Programming EVM" or in the first window "Programming EVM Tool".
Connect your programmingEVM and click "Find Board"; load your saved setting file (“File” -> “Load”) and click on "Programm Devices" ,
after loading everything into the EEPROM your device is programmed.

    best regards

    Michael

  • Thanks a lot, Michael,

    It successfully programmed.
