CDCM61001 crystal input connection

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CDCM61001

Dear Experts,

I am using the CDCM61001 as a clock generator. I read the datasheet, TI recommend three crystals. But unfortunately, I could not find the product based on the part no.

Since the CDCM61001 accepts single ended crystal input, but the normal crystal has two inputs and two grounds. So may I know that how do I connect the crystal to the CDCM61001?

Could I just use one input only and then connect another input to ground?

      Thanks and happy new year.

  • Hello Xiaoliang,

a crystal is always a "2 port" device. So you have the 2 electrodes and the quartz stone in between. Many of the SMD packages have additional connections, which are used to ground the package.

Anyway, the CDCM61001 has a special kind of crystal oscillator stage. It is called Collpits Oscillator. It used a positive feedback loop, which allows to connect just one electrode of the crystal. the other side is connected to ground.

    Best regards,

    Julian
