ask advice about frequency multiplier !

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMK03806, CLOCKDESIGNTOOL

Hi ti engineer!

Rcently  i do some experiment that need high clock frequency about 80MHZ to 250 MHZ ,but i don't have such high clock generator,i only have the frequncy up to 20MHZ.

could you give me some advices about which frequency multiplier chip should i use to meet the need ? what is more it had better output the clock in the form of LVDS and LVCOMS .

        thanks a lot !

  • I would get some low cost FPGA kit for such signal generation.

You should know what kind of signal you need. LVDS(differential) will have better quality than LVCMOS.

This is only my opinion, you can probably get some clock multiplier for your project as well.

  • Hello,

    You make consider the LMK03806.

      - Programmable outputs LVDS/LVPECL/LVCMOS.

      - VCO frequency of 2370 - 2600 MHz with dividers from 1 to 1045.

I recommend using the ClockDesignTool to determine how this device may be programmed to achieve your needs.

Also, for your general reference please see the Choosing PLL Loop Bandwidths presentation in E2E files: http://e2e.ti.com/support/clocks/m/videos__files/664163.aspx
