CDCE62002 - Phase Detect Frequency

Hi Team,

I am using the latest GUI of the CDCE62002 to design the schematic.

Using the frequency planner of the GUI, you can choose different type of PFD such as below.

I have some questions here.

1) Which PFD would be the recommeded frequency ?
I beleive that PFD is higher the better. So, (1) would be the best ?

2) You can see several same PFD in the list. What are the difference of these setting ?

Please give us your help.

Thanks in advance.

Best Regards,
Kawai

  • (1) Higher is better.

    (2) The difference in the many options is the different device settings to generate the same output freq using different PFD freq.

  • Hi Kawai

    1) Which PFD would be the recommeded frequency ?
I beleive that PFD is higher the better. So, (1) would be the best ?

You are correct. The highest possible PFD is desirable. PLL flat noise improve 3 dB every time the phase detector frequency is doubled. Solution (1) would be the best

    2) You can see several same PFD in the list. What are the difference of these setting ?

The difference between the configurations can be seen by selecting each solution. The device is configured differently in each of the settings where the PFD is similar. The difference is in the value of the VCO divider and output divider between the selections. The higher VCO divide frequency solution is ranked higher in the list.
