I tried SN74LVC1GX04 and found current consumption too high for battery driven.

I have RTC XTAL attached to SN74LVC1GX04 with Rs=470K and Rf=10Meg which is working fine but IC get hot (!). This is strange, however the szza043 app note suggest it consume moderate current while at 100KHz.

What the best low power oscillator driver device suitable for RTC XTAL?

Hi Richard,

Have you tried looking at Real Time Clocks on TI.com? I undertand that you are not looking for an RTC device per say but the oscillator implemented in these devices will be ultra low power

Couple of options are:

http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/bq3285ld.pdf - Can buffer out 32kHz but package is 24 SSOP

http://www.ti.com/product/bq32000 - The BQ3200 can only buffer out a 512 Hz
