LMK04828 4 wire spi mode

In 4 wire spi mode when does the LMK04828 output the data on a readback? The datasheet is unclear on this.

  • It outputs at the same time as the SDIO line shown in the timing diagram, Figure 2-1.

    Understood but I wonder if figure 2-1 could be in error.  Attached find a scope shot of SDIO and SCLK during a read back.  SDIO appears to transition on the rising edge of SCLK not as indicated by figure 2-1.   ?

  • Anything further?  The observations appear to be contrary to the info in the data sheet.

  • I'm afraid I can't think of any reason for the data to change on rising clock edge.  It should change on falling clock edge.  In 4 wire mode the outputs can be set to invert the DATA, but that wouldn't change your issue.

    Is 3 wire mode resulting in proper timing?

    At this point, I would need to try and reproduce your situation.  Can you send me a register dump (or saved .mac file from codeloader) I could use and which pin you are using for read back?

    Is this on the evaluation board or your system board?

    some observations from the scope shot:

    • SPI_CLK
    • probe inverted or swiffeld pins
    • except it is fine on writes…
    • SDIO
    • 1/3 of the swing, something in the path or different probe used (no noise on the lo/hi levels)?
    • compared to SPI clock this shows a slope on the falling edge
    • Can you share schematics with the device connections?
