CDCE72010 EEPROM mode usage

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CDCE72010, LMK04806

Hi,

I would like to ask you the usage of CD mode of CDCE72010.

In case of getting start of CD mode, we can use only one setting.

I do not think it is an advantage of this device...

Could you tell me the useful/recommended usage of this CD Mode for customers?

Best Regards,

  • Hi Takumi-San,

As explained in the CDCE72010 datasheet,

In CD Mode, CD1 and CD2 are used to switch between EEPROM saved configurations.

CD1 allows swapping Divider and Phase Adjust value between output couples

CD2 allows changing the output type for each output.

AUX_SEL Controls the Output Mux between VCXO and AUX Input.

The CD Mode signals are sampled on Power-up and are used when SPI interface is unavailable to the user. On the fly changes are not possible. Unfortunately this was how the device was designed.

You could also look at LMK0480x device. The outputs can be reconfigured via software and the device supports upto 8 buffered/divided down copies of the VCXO.

  • Hi Takumi-san,

the CD Mode is useful for customers with multiple device uses cases with similar configurations. Depending on the EEPROM configuration, Dividers/Phase Adjust, output types, and output mux can easily be changed by adjust CD1,2 and AUX_SEL similarly. The advance is all devices can be programmed with identical EEPROM configurations but be brought up in different modes when necessary.

  • Arvind-san,

Thank you for your answer and suggestion.

I will propose LMK04806 to the customer.

  • Gabe-san,

Thank you for your support and suggestion of the usage.

I will tell the customer that.
