LMK04133 output jitter

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMK04133, LMK04906

Hi,      I am planning to use LMK04133 in one of my video project. For one of the video format clock generation, PLL2 phase detector frequency is comming to 43KHz. Can somebody please tell me the peak-to-peak jitter on output clock in this case?
VCXO frequency is 27MHz, Output frequency is 83.4624MHz (ratio is 1932/625)

Thanks,

Dilraj

  • Hi Dilraj,

LMK04906B might be a better choice in terms of overall phase noise. See sample configuration below (created using National Clock Design Tool that can be downloaded form the web)

I created this example case assuming the reference input is also 27 MHz and that the VCXO Kvcxo = 2 kHz./V. Please provide us with the the VCXO reference phase noise and Kvcxo from manufacturer datasheet.

  • Hi Arvind,

    Thanks for your response.

I will look into LMK04906B and analyze whether it meets our requirement. Actually I was checking LMK4816B. I feel LMK04906B is same as that of LMK4816B but with less clock outputs.

VCXO's Kvcxo is 3.75kHz/V and phase noise is as follows

    10 Hz       -60dBc/Hz
    100 Hz     -90dBc/Hz
    1k Hz       -112dBc/Hz
    10k Hz     -130dBc/Hz
    100k Hz   -150dBc/Hz
    more than 100k Hz   -150dBc/Hz

    Thanks,

    Dilraj

  • Hello Dilraj,

you can load a custom phase noise profile into the software and use it for simulation. The software accepts tab separated files. You can load it using the small "simulate phase noise" button in the bottom right of the VCXO block and then press "enter custom phase noise", then "load from file".

    Please see attached example.

    Best regards,

    Patrick

  • Thank you Patrick.

The .sav file you gave is having some problem in loading, but no worries I could generate the phase noise report myself.

    Thanks,
