LMK01801 SYNC Timing

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMK01801, LMK04906

Hello All,

I am trying to synchronize multiple LMK01801 devices on different boards using a common, high precision external signal and common clock at 2300 MHz.  The datasheet does not specify the setup and hold times and instead simply states "the slow slew rate of the SYNC, the exact clock cycle at which the SYNC is asserted or unasserted by the SYNC is undefined."

Is there any way to synchronize clocks on different devices or was the sync function only intended to synchronize clocks in a single device?

Thanks,

Mike

  • Hi Mike,

This device was only intended to synchronize clock outputs on one device. If you need distributed clock alignment, consider the LMK04906 in single loop 0 delay mode. This will allow you not only synchronize the output clocks to be phase aligned to the reference, but the digital delay functionality as well as analog delay will allow for finer synchronization across multiple devices.
