Robert,

The reset and trigger can be connected together for a forever low output when input is low.
Once input goes high, the output will go high for a programmable delay then output goes low again.
If input goes low either before or after time delay output goes low. However, if it was already low output may glitch high.

If reset and trigger were controlled separately the suspected glitch could be avoided.

looking for something that changes state  after delay period, but could reset during delay
