LMX2571 : Direct Conversion IC?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMX2571

Hi,

Can LMX2571 work as a direct conversion receiver IC (or Zero/Low IF Receiver IC)?

Please advise, thanks.

Thanks,

Philip

  • Hi Philip,
    It is a synthesizer, i.e. it could perform as the local oscillator of a receiver. Whether it could be used in a ZIF receiver depends on your phase noise requirement on the LO. Do you have an idea of the phase noise requirement? we can help check if LMX2571 or any other parts in our portfolio can meet your requirement.
  • Hi Noel,Thanks for your reply.
    Regarding the phase noise requirement for LO frequency, typically for UHF and VHF,
    -120dBc/Hz @ 25.0kHz; -115dBc/Hz @ 12.5kHz;
    -110dBc/Hz @ 6.25kHz Please advise.
  • Hi Philip,
    As you can see in page 8 of the datasheet, the default setting can meet your requirement up to 500MHz. At 900MHz, we are a bit off. My estimation here is we can improve the phase noise by using a higher frequency OSCin and make the loop bandwidth wider.
