CDCM7005 - Which side is the "case"?

The TI CDCM7005-SP data sheet lists the RθJC on page 6, but does not specify what surface of the package is meant by the "case." Is the "case" the heat slug on the bottom/board side or is it the lid on the top/opposite side? Or is it some combination of the two?

In CDCM7005-SP R_theta_JC is the specified thermal resistance towards the top side of the case.

Have you even looked at the data sheet for the CDCM7005? There is no psiJC. There is only RθJC.

The data sheet also does not cite JESD51.1 as the test method. It cites MIL-STD-883 method 1012, which is ambiguous in regard to the definition of RθJC.

it happened to be a typo as we specify psiJC in newly released parts. I have edited my post accordingly.

The correct sentence is:
In CDCM7005-SP R_theta_JC is the specified thermal resistance towards the top side of the case.

The "top" being the side opposite the heat slug? If that is so, then why is there no resistance value given for junction to heat slug?

Hello Casey,

i have confirmed with our quality team.

The theta_jc is specified through the heat slug. The 52HFG package is unformed. It has to be formed to requirements by the end customer before use. Some customers form it with the heat slug on top, others with the heat slug on the bottom.
