what is input clock frequency and write frequency to dac2904 ??

i am using IC dac2904 in fpga and i want to produce a square wave. i have written the required code but not sure that what should be input clock frequency and write frequency feed to dac ??? right now i am giving 40 Mhz to both input clock frequency and the write frequency  and i am not getting any output on cro.
