Question about CDCM6208

Guru 19675 points

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CDCM6208, CDCM6208V1F

Please let me know about following points of CDCM6208.

①What difference of CDCM6208 and CDCM6208V1F?

②Can CDCM6208 satisfy the following spec (Phase noise)?

     …10Hz :Less than -50 dBc/Hz

     …100Hz :Less than -80 dBc/Hz

    …1kHz :Less than -110 dBc/Hz

    …10kHz :Less than -120 dBc/Hz

    …100kHz:Less than -120 dBc/Hz

    …1MHz~ :Less than -130 dBc/Hz

      (Phase jitter : 30 ps p-p)

       ※Customer information

          ・Application : 6GHz SerDes circuit

          ・Input: 37.125MHz LVCMOS → Output: 148.5MHz LVDS or LVPECL

③If input is X'tal oscillator (jitter < 1ps, fo offset:12kHz~20MHz), can CDCM6208 use synthesizer mode?

④Where is CDCM6208V1F's GUI?

Is this same as CDCM6208's GUI?

(Customer want to simulate the current consumption in the case of 1 or 2 output)

⑤Is there information of calculation method or tool of Loop filter?

Best regards,

Satoshi

  • Hi Satoshi,
I can quickly answer some of your questions.
    1) the CDCM6208V1F and the CDCM6208 are the same devices but with different pin mode frequency plans
    3) the clean reference from an XTAL is a good choice for using the CDCM6208 in synthesizer mode (larger LBW)
    4) the CDCM6208 variants all share one GUI. there is no specific gui for the CDCM6208V1F
    5) The CDCM6208 GUI has a built in loop filter calculator, but tools such as Clock Architect and Clock Design Tool are also helpful. For the math behind selecting devices, please see Dean's PLL book (www.ti.com/.../pll_book)

    Thank you for reply.

When there are a tool or information which are also recommended about solve the question ②, please let me know.
