Error: BQ32000 oscillator failure when initial power up

Hi,

We are using BQ32000 rtc controller chip in our design.

During the initial power up, we are getting oscillator failure("Oscillator Failure. Check RTC battery.") issue due to OF flag bit is set to 1 in minute register(address=0x01).

From second time power up OF flag bit is set to 0 and there is no Oscillator failure error.

Could you please let us know why above behavior is observed? Is it expected behavior?

Hi Rahman,

This is expected behavior and outlined on page 13 of the Rev E datasheet. OF bit is always set on power up and should be cleared through the serial interface.
