LMK04821 - Using LOS to drive LED

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMK04821

Hello,

I'm working on application where I'd like to continuously drive an LED if the input reference clock is lost on the LMK04821. In previous designs, I've used an LMK0403x, which features a pin that automatically drives a logic HIGH when that input clock is lost. We started designing with the LMK04821 and I figured it had the same functionality buried somewhere.

Right now, I'm looking at using pin 58 which is CLKin_SEL0. I see on page 72 of the datasheet the values that control this register/pin.

If I set:

CLKin_SEL0_MUX to be 0x01, then the output format will be CLKin0_LOS

CLKin_Sel0_TYPE to be 0x03, then it will be a push-pull

Would this work? I am unclear on how CLKin0_LOS functions.

Is there an easy way to accomplish what I am looking for - driving the LED if the input clock is pulled away?

Thank you for all of your help!! I really appreciate it.

Paul
