LMK04906 LE behavior

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMK04906

The datasheet for the LMK04906 (p.16) writes that the LEuWire pin should be  set to low after programming is complete.  Normally, when using an active low LE signal, we set the LE high when not programming to be sure that data isn't inadvertently written to the device.  Is there a reason why the LE signal must be set low after programming?  Is there any issue if the LE signal is left high after programming is complete?

Thanks.

Mark

  • Hi Mark,

Note that the LMK04906 uses uWire, which is similar to SPI (hence returning LE high) but has some caveats as you have noticed. We recommend returning LE to low to avoid unintended sync and data latches (see Fig 12). However, if these issues are taken into consideration leaving LE high will not corrupt transactions as the edges of LE are what are used for latching data.
