CDCE72010 does not respond to any SPI command

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CDCE72010

Hi,

recently, I am trying to reprogram the CDCE72010 with SPI interface.  It was programmed before and running fine with unlocked command in EEPROM.  Somehow after I wrote in the commands this time and write them into EEPROM with unlock command, the CDCE72010 is screwed.  It does not give any meaningful output and does not respond to any further SPI command even the SW reset command. Any clue?  Do I have to replace the chip physically?

Thanks,

X.

  • Hello Xiaohui,

can you please let me know if the device you are referring to is on the EVM or on your application board?

Can you share details about the environment?

    • Setup
      • Control signals applied to the device (RESET, SPI_LE, MODE_SEL, AUX_SEL, REF_SEL ...)
      • startup sequence (when is RESET released and initial SPI sent)
    • Configuration
      • Which SPI commands did you send?
      • Which frequency are you using to program?

Is this issue going away when you do a power cycle or does it persist? If the reference input or VCXO input is set to another signal type, then what is applied, it may not see proper clock signal internally and the outputs would seem odd.

The SPI interface can be switched off only by using the "pin mode" with pin MODE_SEL=LOW.

    Best regards,

    Patrick
