The configuration of LMK03318

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMK03318, LMK03318EVM, CODELOADER

Hi BU team

There questions about the configure interface of LMK03318 need your comments.

1. After the first powered-up, hard pin mode was applied by customer to configure LMK03318. But during the operation, customer needs to change the configuration way to I2C interface. If change to I2C interface, whether must LMK03318 be firstly powered down then pull down hw_sw_ctrl pin to enable I2C interface?

2. If no powered-down operation from hard pin mode to I2C mode, is the launched configuration through hard pin mode still active? For example, if just change the divider of clkout2, only send the new value to the related divider register. Is it correct?

3. If finish the configuration firstly by hard pin mode, during the operation customer just want to select another reference input (from primary input to secondary input) ,where keep the same of  the frequency and input level.  Is it ok to just change the input level of refsel pin?

Thanks

  • 1. I2C interface & control registers are always enabled after power-up in either Hard Pin Mode or Soft Pin Mode. There is no need to power down.
    2. Correct, you can start-up in Hard Pin Mode and simply change any register(s) to change the configuration, as needed.
    3. By default, the REFSEL pin can be used to select PRIREF or SECREF input as the PLL reference. You can also change the PLL input mux selection via register control.

These details are explained in the LMK03318EVM user guide and CodeLoader GUI user guides, so please refer to those if you need more details.
