CDCE62005 VCO Calibration word

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CDCE62005

Hello,

I am new to CDCE62005 and using the evaluation board. I just wanted to know the definitions of the bits related to VCO calibration word. As I found out, they are bits 0 to 5 of Register 8 of device RAM. But I couldn't find any definitions for those bits in the datasheet or application notes. As I am getting different calibration word upon calibration and locking the PLL with the same input and settings, I wanted to know what would be the definitions of these bits. I would appreciate any help.

Thanks.

  • Hi Seyed,
As typical design, a wide band VCO in silicon would be divided or tuned by many sub-band. The VCO calibration process is to point out which sub-band is the best one for current setting, input and temperature etc. The bits 0 to 5 of Reg 8 also has similar function. Please refer.

    Best Regards,
    Shawn
