CDCE72010

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CDCE72010

Hello, it is my first time using a clock IC. so please bear with me

in my situation, the CDCE72010 is mounted inside our FMC151 board.

1. What are the basics of controlling the frequency of CDCE72010?

2. How do you set a frequency using CDCE72010?

3. What is a serial communication bus/interface? how do i use it?

4. What is the minimum and maximum freq. of CDCE72010?

5. How do you use the clock divider for CDCE72010? Is there a formula for this also?

Thank u for ur patience

  • Hello,

Please take a look at app note SWRA029 (www.ti.com/.../swra029.pdf) and also please refer to the datasheet.

The CDCE72010 does require an external VCO to work, the frequency range of this VCO may be up to 1500 MHz.

The device has a SPI interface, but can also be pin controlled to program a setting from EEPROM.

I think you should be able to use the EVM gui software to program the device how you want, then save the config (File --> Save As), then program that to your board. Open the saved .INI file to see the register programming.
