LMK04906: SYNC_QUAL Requirements

Part Number: LMK04906
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMK04208

The LMK04906 data sheet (SNAS589E) is inconsistent or imprecise regarding the requirements for the proper operation of SYNC_QUAL. On pages 36 and 65, it is stated that CLKout2_PD = 0. However, the instructions (including descriptions) on pages 37 and 40 require CLKout3_PD = 0. Which is correct?

The data sheet of the LMK04208 seems consistent regarding SYNC_QUAL requirements, with the exception of the description in table 9 (SNAS684, p.40)

(I've tried to clarify this issue by using the "Submit Document Feedback" link inside the data sheet some time ago. However, these reports do not seem to have any effect?!)

Regards,
Tom

  • Hello Tom,

Thanks for the feedback. The document feedback should have effect. I have received these notifications before. I'll check into this to confirm everything is working properly.

However addressing your question, CLKout2_PD = 0 is the requirement. Thanks for letting me know of the issues with LMK04906 datasheet. We'll update it.

  • Hi Timothy,

Thanks to your clarification the output synchronization is now working as expected. One major source of confusion was the wrongly labeled NO_SYNC bits in the code loader tool. E.g. the check box labeled with NO_SYNC_CLKout2_3 actually refers to the NO_SYNC_CLKout1 field. An update of the code loader tool / part file would be appreciated.

Three months later, there is still no updated datasheet available. I really hope that the former National parts get the required attention at TI.

    Regards,
    Tom
