LMX2491: About Fin Input Sensitivity

Part Number: LMX2491
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMX2492

Hi all.

I would like to get the "Fin Input Sensitivity graph" of LMX2491
I attach the Fin Input Sensitivity of LMX2492.
Is this test condition single-end?

Best Regrads,
Sho

  • Hi Sho,

Fin input sensitivity of LMX2491 is same as LMX2492 and a single-ended signal was used during the test.
  • Hi Noel san

    Thank you for your reply.
The characteristics of LMX2491 is the following,
    PFin : Power for Fin Pin : Single-Ended Operation : -5dBm@min 、5dBm@max

I am asked the reasen why the minimus PFin is 5db from my customer.
As long as waching to the Figure 4 of LMX2492, Power(dBm) is -10dBm @ 16GHz.

So please tell me the reason about it and test condition in the datasheet.
    Is it marginal value?

    Best Regards,
    Sho

  • Hi Sho,
That plot (Figure 4 in LMX2492 datasheet) is a typical plot. To ensure functionality over temperature and supply voltage variation, a min. of -5dBm is actually required.
Typical values are usually obtained with testing a just a couple of devices, usually at room temperature.
The min. and max. values as shown in the Electrical table are obtained with testing a substantially amount of devices over Power, Voltage, Temperature. These numbers are guaranteed numbers.
  • Hi Noel san

I understood what you said, thank you.

    I have one more question.
My customer input frequency 750MHz (min -9dB) to Fin,
so I think  LMX2492 can receive the above frequency, because Power(dBm) is about -35dBm@750MHz in Figure 4.

    Please tell me the comment.

    Best Regards,
    Sho

  • Hi Sho,

    I think so.
