LMK04828BEVM: Purpose of 560ohm in LMK04828 EVM

Part Number: LMK04828BEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMK04828

Hi Team,

Would you let me know purpose of 560ohm termination resistor in LMK04828 EVM schematic?
Generally LVDS required 100ohm termination resistor, while LMK04828 EVM used 560ohm.
Please let me know the reason.
Thank you.

Best Regards,
Jade

  • Hello Jade,

Typically LVDS is DC coupled to 100 ohm termination.

In some cases when LVDS is AC coupled, it is necessarily to keep a DC path on LMK04828 LVDS output side to ensure quick/valid start-up.  We use 560 ohms for this.  There will still be a 100 ohm load at the receiver.  This is also true for AC coupling HSDS, to place a 560 ohm on the LMK04828 output side with 100 ohms at receive side.

It is recommended to place this 560 ohm resistor close to the LMK output.
