Hello and I have an URGENT need for an answer. Please.

I need to drive several Sata controllers and Am1808's controller with a Reference clock.

the Evaluation kit uses CDCM61001 as the Sata Ref Clock.

Can I buffer it's output and drive several sata controllers?

Would you please suggest some buffer/driver parts.

I know I can use the CD...4 model with 4 outputs; but the cost is the issue.

the distance to farthest controller is about 10cm(4 inches).

I'm not very familiar with the SATA spec, but I have heard that it has very tight clock requirements (like jitter). I think it would be best to compare the buffer specs versus the SATA specs. I suspect that the multiple output clock generator is expensive for a reason.

Hi Tlee; The multil port clock generators can be set differet spec and speed,... on each port. while in our case all the devices are of same speed so only buffering is needed and not multiple clock generation.

And for ".... expensive for a reason" the cpu costs $6.95 while the clock genrator costs $4.20 and the power supply sequencer ic is $$2.95.

at 10k and 100k volumes; this makes the am1808/l138 wrong cpus! Intel has been messing with us for years; and why to give in to TI for same tricks!

am18xx are great cpus for mass volumes; but only if better suggestions given on support ICs.
