CDCM6208: Output clock quality when crystal selected

Part Number: CDCM6208

Hi,

I am using CDCM6208V1 in Pin mode ( Pin mode 19). Also I am planning to use SEC_REF as the input.

Please let me know is there any output signal quality difference if a crystal is selected instead of oscillator.

Regards,

Madhu.

  • Hi Madhu,

When using a crystal reference that meets the requirements highlighted in the crystal input characteristics (SEC-REF) Section 7.11 of the datasheet, one can achieve < 300fs integrated jitter (12 kHz - 20 MHz). There is a high performance crystal oscillator block internal to the device.

If you are using Pin Mode 19, the secondary reference input logic is set to handle a crystal input and not an LVCMOS XO.
