LMX2594: LMX2594 with sinus clock input

Part Number: LMX2594

Hi

to reduce clock spurs i want to use sinus input to LMX2594.

1. what will be the phase noise degradation in this case?

2. what input level should be used?

3. what will be the preferred clock frequency range at this case?

thank you for your help

Dan

  • Dan,

In general, best phase noise is for highest slew rate.  As for spurs, they are best for higher slew rate, but are a little better for lower amplitude, like an LVDS signal.

If using a sinusoidal waveform, the highest frequency and highest amplitude typically is best because it has a higher slew rate.

    Sorry for not explaining well

The spurs I am concern about are clock harmonics resulting in distributing square wave clock in long lines

I was hopping too get more numbers about the phase noise degradation of sinus wave input to LMX2594

I will therefore distribute the clock in sinus waveform and then use sinus to LVDS converter close to the PLL.

    Have a wonderful day
