LMK61E2EVM: LMK61E2 EVM Communicates with CodeLoader over USB but Fails to Find I2C Device Address

Part Number: LMK61E2EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CODELOADER, , LMK61E2

Dear Tech Support and Community Members:

We bought a LMK61E2 EVM, and tried to connect to USB and use the CodeLoader software. The USB port communicates with the eval board as when the "Identify" button is clicked the green LED (D5) blinks accordingly; but when "Find I2C Address" is clicked, a "Device Not Find" shows up (the red LED D4 would dim). It almost like that the CodeLoader is able to communicate with uC on the eval board but the uC is not able to communicate with the LMK61E2 device? We made sure that the jumpers are proper set as instructed in the Quick Start Guide section of the "LMK61E2EVM User's Guide (settings are exactly as shown in Figure 4). Has anyone experienced the same issue?

Many thanks,

Ming

  • Hi Ming,

You are correct- in this case CodeLoader is able to communicate with the uC but the uC cannot find the LMK61E2 on the I2C bus.

Could you ensure that the LMK61E2 is powered correctly by setting J2 and J3 both to USB power? Also, try disconnecting and reconnecting the EVM and/or restarting Codeloader- sometimes this can solve the issue.

    Regards,
