CDCM6208: pin mode setting for C6657

Part Number: CDCM6208

Hello team,

My customer considers CDCM6208 to use for clocking C6657(2*PCIe, GbE, DDR3, DSP core) with pin program mode. We can see frequency/type combinations at datasheet table6 and table7.

C6657 datasheet specifies 100M-312.5MHz for PCIe, 40M-312.5MHz for DDR3, 40M-312.5MHz for Core, and 156.25MHz or 250MHz or 312.5MHz for GbE.

Looking at CDCM6208 datasheet table6 and 7, all 156.25MHz(LVDS) or all 250MHz(LVDS)settings looks easy to achieve clocks for C6657. Do you have any concern about the setting for clocking C6657? Or, do you have any recommended pin mode setting for C6657 clock?
If you have experience of CDCM6208 for C665x, could you please let me know what frequencies you output to C6657?

Also they consider power consumption. Can we disable channels that are not used?

Best regards,

Taketo Sato

  • Hello Taketo-san

We have tested the CDCM6208 with Keystone DSPs.

Table6 and Table7 datasheet, you can find all the pin mode settings. These settings allow the CDCM6208 to start up in one of the selected settings without programming.

The latest GUI has the possibility to show the pinmodes easily by selecting via drop down menu.

Recommendation for the device supply is 1.8V which will lower the power consumption. LVDS outputs should be only AC coupled to C665x device.

The customer can select any of those pin modes. In case that a simple xtal is used as input you should select a pinmode with PFD frequency equal to input frequency.

Yes, you can also dissable the non-used channels.

Who is customer in this case?

    Best regards
