LMX2594EVM: How to drive SYNC pin

Part Number: LMX2594EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMX2594

Hi All,

I want synchronize the 2 LMX2594 devices output. To do this II would like to know

1)What is the SYNC pin frequency we can feed in?

2)What is the SYNC Pin IO Voltage?

3)Is the signal to be fed in to SYNC pin is sine wave  or Pulse Wave?

  • Ayyappareddy,

    In response to your questions.

    1.   The SYNC pin input is intended to be a single-shot, not a continuous frequency.  The datasheet specifies a 2.5 ns setup time and 2 ns hold time.  However, every time you SYNC the device, the VCO re-calibrates, which takes on the order of 100 us.  So 10 ms is about as fast as you could react to, but this would make no sense to do;  send just one pulse.

2.In CMOS mode,  high level input voltage must be at least 1.4 V and low leven input voltage can be no more than 0.4V.  This is from the datasheet.

    3.  Just a single square pulse.

    Regards,

    Dean
