Hi team,

I am considering to use TPL5110 because I want to realize the following things.

・Turn off the switch after a set time has elapsed from the outside by triggering.

I am thinking to realize this in one-shot mode.

If I retry after one-shot time elapsed, should I pull up the DELAY / M_DRV pin to Vdd as shown in the data sheet?

Should I restart power?

Hi Tomoaki,

Your understanding is correct. In One shot mode, pulling DELAY / M_DRV to VDD as mentioned in datasheet section 8.5.2 will issue another pulse on DRV.

Power cycling will also issue a reset, but this is not necessary.

I'm thinking about turning on the VDD pull-up switch at the DELAY terminal to reset.

I think that the difference between Power cycleing and pulling DELAY/M_DRV to VDD is pulse time only.

For pulling DELAY/M_DRV to VDD, pulse width is Tdrv + Tdb = Tip - 50ms + 20ms = Tip - 30 ms.

In the case of Power cycling, the pulse width is Tdrv = Tip - 50 ms.

Should I consider that the difference in pulse time will be 20 ms?

Since we want to use NMOS for the switch, we amplify the DRV signal with NPN bipolar grounded emitter circuit in order to invert the logic of DRV and drive capacity.

Are you concerned about this usage?

Hi Tomoaki-san,

Yes, the nominal difference in pulse time should be approximately 20ms.

TPL5111 is identical to TPL5110, but the DRV logic is inverted. If you need a device with inverted DRV logic, please consider using the TPL5111.

I was not conscious of TPL 5111.

However, TPL 5111 is not for Automotive grade, but is there any plan to automotive grade in the future?

We have to need Automotive grade.

Hi Lane-san,

Thank you for your reply.
I will use TPL5110 with one shot mode.

However, there is a problem.
The timer operation starts when the power is turned on.
Is there any way to prevent the timer from starting?
Or can I stop it immediately even if the timer operation starts?

I will use DELAY/M_DRV to restart.

Hi Tomoaki-san,

There is not a way to prevent the timer from starting on device startup. You can stop the timer by issuing a valid pulse on DONE. A valid pulse on DONE must be at least 100ns wide, and must be received within the programmed time interval minus 50ms. See datasheet section 8.4.3 for more info.
