LMK04821: What LMK stands for?

Part Number: LMK04821

In my task, an issue appears: nowhere in public documents any LMK  abbreviation explanation were met. There are over a hundred of different clock-referred products with this prefix, mostly oscillators and jitter cleaners, but is there any meaning of LMK by itself, not because this letters are used as a prefix? I've found similar thread about TMS, but the links were broken

  • Maxim,

"LMK" is legacy from National Semiconductor, which was acquired by Texas Instruments.

In National Semiconductor the prefix "LM" meant "Linear Monolithic" and you will see the "LM" prefix in many devices that were previously made National Semiconductor or designed from groups that came over from National Semiconductor.

For clock and timing, we originally had our wireless/PLL group that used the prefix "LMX" which we still use for our synthesizers and from this group we created the clocking group that uses the "LMK" prefix.  So there is strong synnergy between these groups.

There are other clocking products like those with the "CDC" prefix as well, although these are under the same mamagement as those for the LMK group.

    Regards,
    Dean
