LMX2594: Supply current for various various supply pins

Part Number: LMX2594

Hi,

I am using LMX2594 in my design. The datasheet give a total current consumption of around 340mA. I would like to know what are the current requirements of individual supply lines mentioned below. Are all of these supplies noise sensitive or only couple of them are noise sensitive and rest are not so noise sensitive?

VccDIG

VccCP

VccMASH

VccBUF

VccVCO2

VccVCO

Regards,

Kiran

  • Hi Kiran,

There isn't available current for each individual supply lines as they depend on the multiple possible use case options. It is usually measured after customers set the mode they are using. Noise sensitive wise, we are extra careful on the VccDIG and VccMASH in filtering out the digital noise. VccCP is also sensitive area. VccVCO, VccVCO2 and VccBUF are drawn from internal LDOs, but we also like to keep them as quiet as possible too.

  • Hi Brian,

I understand that current for individual supply lines are dependent on configuration. But I believe there will be some maximum current consumption rating for each supply line. If you can provide me that, it will be very helpful.

My problem is, in my design I don't have a single LDO which can supply complete 350mA typical current. My LDO current rating is 300mA. Hence I want to use 2 LDO for providing necessary supply. Hence to decide which supplies I can bunch together and supply from same LDO, I need this information.

  • Hi Kiran,

I suggest a separated LDO for VccBUF (pin 21) and RFout pull-up. That is, "VccRF" as shown in the EVM User's guide schematic.
With the EVM and default settings, I measured 160mA at VccRF and 220mA for the rest Vcc supply pins.
