LMX2592: Reset operating of data setting

Part Number: LMX2592

Hello,

My customer has a question about LMX2592.

[Q]

Please tell me about reset operation of data setting of LMX2592.
R0's reset bit was self-clearing, but how long should I wait before writing 1 and then set R1?
If writing with a clock of about 10 MHz, is not it especially necessary to wait?

Best Regards,

Kaede Kudo

  • Hi Kaede,

The RESET actually operates independent of the OSCin clock (the OSCin clock contributes digitally for the frequency calibration sequence). Thus, you can actually disconnect OSCin and still run RESET. The act of RESET is not necessary, we just recommend it at the beginning of starting up a device, preferring users always to start out from a known state. Strictly speaking, user can power up device, program all registers and attain the settings programmed.

  • Hi Brian,

    Thank you for your cooperation.
    I understood your answer.

Is my understanding correct about Recommended Initial Power on Programming Sequence (D/S P.18) ?
    [My understanding]
    1. Apply power to the device and ensure the VCC pins are at the proper levels
    2. Ensure that a valid reference is applied to the OSCin pin
    3. Soft reset the device (write R0[1] = 1) ... Skip
    4. Program the registers in REVERSE order like TICS pro
    5. Frequency calibrate (write R0[3] = 1)

  • Hi Kudo-san,

we recommend to execute Step 3 to soft reset the device so as to ensure that the device is reset properly after power up.
  • Hi Noel-san, Brian-san,

    Thanks for your cooperation.

I understood that reset is necessary.

So, Is not it especially necessary to wait after reset?

If wait is necessary, how long sholud I need?

    Best Regards,

    Kaede Kudo

  • Hi Kudo-san,

Wait is not necessary after soft reset.
  • Hello, Noel-san

    Thanks for your cooperation.
    I understood your comment.
I will tell my customer your comment.

    Best Regards,
