TPL5010: Multiple DONE signals are processed successfully by Watch Dog

Part Number: TPL5010

This post is just for information.

At the beginning when I decided to use TPL5010 as a Watch Dog I was not sure how it reacts to multiple DONE signals and there was no post on E2E to help. So I decided to post my own test results.

The datasheet mentions that second DONE signals are ignored. But I was not sure about the response for a trail of DONE signals.

The circuit was powered at 2.8V, the Watch Dog period is set to ~7 seconds using a 4.7kOhm resistor. The done signals where provided using a push button.

Successful processing of single DONE signals:

Here we can see a single DONE pulse that is sent to the TPL5010. The TPL5010 acknowledges with a WAKE pulse and does not issue a RESET.

Successful processing of a trail of DONE signals:

Here we see a trail of DONE pulses sent to the TPL5010. The TPL5010 responds in the same way it does for a single DONE signal (WAKE pulse issued and RESET pulse is blocked).

  • Thank you for sharing your results. Your experiment confirms the device operation as detailed in datasheet section 8.3.2: "if two or more DONE signals are received within the time interval, only the first DONE signal is processed." See this section of the datasheet for more information.

    Kind regards,
    Lane
