CDCE62005: will it safe to apply clock to TI Clock generator when it is not powered?

Hello,

In our design, there is a situation when clock source for TI Clock generator IC is powered but TI Clock generator is not powered.

i have following questions on the same situation -

1) will it safe to apply clock to TI Clock generator when it is not powered?

2) What will be the impact on clock generator reference clock input pins in this scenerio ?

Please let us know, as early as possible.

Thank you for reaching out. I do not think this will be an issue to have a clock driving the device while NOT powered. but I will confirm with design team.

After verification, It is safe to drive the clock input while the device is NOT powered.

Hello Simon,

We have tested the same situation in lab.
our observation are - a offset of 0.863V is seen on 3V3 supply.

Hi Tarang,
There is a diode in the ESD structures which will start conducting when device is not powered but you apply a clock on the input. This is like powering the chip through the clock, although this does not destroy our device.
