LMX2592: Higher frequency operation

Part Number: LMX2592
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: USB2ANY

I have 4 LMX2592 PLL on my Board. All are having Different Loop filter values. Osc in is 100MHz.

What We are observing is till 7310MHz PLL will get lock. But after 7311MHZ till 9800MHz PLL is not getting locked.

I Have checked the Reg value. I took the same register value and programmed Eval board. Eval board is working fine.

I am unable to resolve this issue. So please let me know, where I am going wrong here.

  • Hi Pradeep,
I have connected you to an expert App Engineer on this device. The response might be delayed due to Easter holidays. I would suggest you to post your schematic ,TICSpro file and your programming procedure, which might be helpful here.
    Thanks for having patience.
    Best regards
    Puneet

  • Pradeep,
I just wanted to emphasize that guaranteed VCO tuning range is 3550 - 7100 MHz. To go above 7100 MHz, you need to use the frequency doubler. To go below 3550 MHz you need to use the channel divider.

So if you try to tune your VCO to 7310 MHz, this would be pushing the upper range of the VCO and likely it would not go there; you need the doubler for this frequency.

    Regards
    Dean
  • Hi Dean,

We are aware of this doubler. We are Programming R30 with 0435 for frequency above 7100MHz.

But still we are not getting higher frequencies.

In the above mail, I have attached reg setting also. So please go through it once.

  • Hi Pradeep,

Can you use USB2ANY to program your board? I don't see any problem with the hardware, so lets focus on the software first.
