Searching Clock IC

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMX2485E, LMX2571, LMX2572, LMX2582

Dear Technical Support Team,

I have been searching following specification of clock IC like Clock generator  or Synthesizer.

What parts of IC do you recommend?

If EVM is available , it is useful for us to evaluate it.

■Requirement

・Finref( input reference frequency ):10MHz(high accuracy)

・Output frequency range:  From 54MHz to 70MHz (the setting of resolution: <0.1Hz)

Best Regards,

ttd

  • Hi ttd,

Since you need to vary the output frequency in a step of less than 0.1Hz, you will definitely need a fractional PLL or synthesizer.
    Here is my suggestion.
    PLL: LMX2485E
    Low power synthesizer: LMX2571, LMX2572
    High performance synthesizer: LMX2582
  • Hi Noel Fung,

    Thank you for your reply.

I checked LMX2572 through TICS Pro.

It could be ok to set 0.1Hz steps with "Large Fraction" setting below.

LMX2582 doesn't have "Large Fraction", so I set the value directly.

    What the difference of them?

    Best Regards,

    ttd

  • Hi ttd,

That button is used to force the fractional denominator to the max. value. Both devices has 32-bit denominator, so they can support very fine frequency tuning.
