LMK00301: LMK00301 difference between A & non-A version

Part Number: LMK00301

Hi there:

I'd like to know the difference between LMK00301 & LMK00301A those two.

From the spec could find the difference is about the "requires power sequencing or not".

Is that meaning the required current from power supply would be different?

If our customer application is input 100MHz HCSL and output 100MHz*9, the suggested P/N would be LMK00301  or LMK00301A?

  • update the description from datasheet

  • Dear Key,

    thank you for your question.

I have not measured each device but I will assume that the phase noise performance of the A version versus the non-A version is identical. Some precaution are needed on the non-A version at power up.

    Regards,
    Simon.
  • Hi Simon:

thanks, but under what special case if we need to consider the power supply sequence?
  • Dear Simon :

    Wel , I am Accton's HW Engineer ,

Which different is about LMK00301 & LMK00301"A" in schematic design  ?

Can the LMK00301"A"'s all power connect together and LMK00301's all power need independent to connecting

or other about power sequence design request ?

    Thanks.

  • Hello,

    From datasheet section 11.1:

"For the LMK00301, when powering the Vcc and Vcco pins from separate supply rails, it is recommended for the supplies to reach their regulation point at approximately the same time while ramping up, or reach ground potential at the same time while ramping down. Using simultaneous or ratiometric power supply sequencing prevents internal current flow from Vcc to Vcco pins that could occur when Vcc is powered before Vcco.

For the LMK00301A, there is no power supply sequencing requirement between Vcc and Vcco."

For both A and non-A devices, there is no special consideration when powering Vcc and Vcco pins from a single 3.3 V supply.

    Regards,
    Alan
