LMX2594: Output pull-up inductor guideline

Part Number: LMX2594

Hello,

When we want to get higher power, I think inductor pull-up configuration is written in the datasheet.

Is it possible to know a guideline how to determine the inductor value and to select the parts?

Our RF frequency is estimating 1GHz to 7GHz and 9GHz to 14GHz.

Best regards,

Toshihiro Watanabe

  • Toshiro-san,

The inductor should be high impedance at the frequency of interest.  Theoretically, higher inductor values are better, but then you also have to stay away from the self-resonant frequency of the inductor.

1 nH might be good for the 9 GHz and higher band, but for 1 GHz, it is likely too low impedance.   We have not done this on our EVM, but theoretically, if you put a series resistor with the inductor, then this should give a good broadband response.

I am not sure if you have seen this before, but the attached document goes into more detail on our open collector outputs.
