LMX2594: Trigger for automatic ramp

Part Number: LMX2594
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMX2491

Hi,

Is it possible to start an automatic ramp with an external trigger (eg. rising edge) and generate a continuous triangle chirp until the ramp is disabled?

I was thinking to use Trigger A for RAMP0_NEXT_TRIG to initiate waveform and then the triangle waveform should run continuously. However, in order to get it to run continuously, I would need to set the RAMP0_NEXT_TRIG to TOC Timeout. Which means that this method would not work. Is there any way to trigger the automatic signal ramp?

  • AY,

With 2 ramps, you are limited and I don't think you cn do this.

For instance, you could trigger RAMP0 with the pin and then have RAMP1_NEXT = Ramp1, but this can only do a sawtooth, not a triangle wave.

The LMX2491/92 can do this and has 8 ramps, but this does not have an integrated VCO.

Also, I notice that you are sweeping 95 MHz, so be aware that your VCO will likely need to calibrate in the middle of the ramp, especially at hot temperature.

    Regards,
