LMK00301: Reliability related questions about LMK00301 and CDCLVC1310

Hi team,

When my customer use the LMK00301 and CDCLVC1310, there is a situation that they power off the units but remain input the clock signal in the input pin.

So my customer want to know will this cause reliability problem after using for a long time.

Can you help to evaluate this?

Hi Lacey,

It is not recommended to provide a clock input when the devices are powered, this violates the Input Voltage spec given in the Absolute Maximum Ratings Table. Exposure to absolute-maximum-rated conditions for extended periods may affect device reliability.

Hi Lane,
Just to double confirm the description.
The customer said the input clock specs are within the recommended conditions in the datasheet.
The description you mean in the above post is that the Absolute Maximum Ratings table is just refer to the condition when the unit is powered on.
If the unit is powered on, we can't not input any signal in the input pin, right?

Hi Lacey,

We suggest to remove the signal on the input pins when VCC is off. Otherwise, there is a risk to damage the device.

Refer to App notes "ESD Diode Current Specification" to understand it.
