LMX2582: Output frequency generation

Part Number: LMX2582
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMX2592

Hi,

I have already used this IC for RF LO generation from 2-3 GHz.

I want 6 GHZ RF LO for another project. so can we get it from LMX2582.Although in the datasheet it is mentioned upto 5.5GHz.

But i think i can generate 6 GHz may be some compromise of power level. Please suggest.

I don't want to use another ic or make another board for 6 GHz.

  • Hello,

The LMX2582 VCO goes from 3550 to 7100 MHz and you can see this if you use the VCO divider.  However, the datasheet says that you can not get any output frequency above 5500 MHz.  I'm really not sure what happens above 5500 MHz, but we are not going to commit any applications resources to investigate this.  If you decide to get higher than 5500 MHz out of the LMX2582, then you are doing this at your own risk.

I say this because we offer the LMX2592, which is pinout, program, and performance drop-in replacement that can certainly go to 6 GHz.

    Regards,

    Dean
