Jitter estimation using PLLatinum sim and Fpfd

I have 2 questions regarding PLLatinum software:

1) What is Fpfd. Is it the same as reference frequency when I multiply by 1 instead of 2.

2) The jitter number that are displayed in PLLatinum sim software is what kind:

Period jitter, Cycle to cycle jitter, total jitter due to PLL.

  • Pankaj,
    1. Fpd is the phase detector frequency. Fosc is the input frequency, some call it "reference frequency". If the R divider is 1 and there are no input multipliers, then Fosc = Fpd.
    2. Jitter displayed is RMS period jitter. So 1 ps jitter means that 68% of the time, the period will be within 1 ps of the expected value.
