WEBENCH® Tools/LMX2491: TICS Pro Ramp profiles to Hex Registers and vice versa

Part Number: LMX2491

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Hi,

I am using TICS Pro V1.6.9.0

I use the PLL, Ramp Calculator, and User Controls interface tools to generate ramp profiles and these entries appear to transfer to the Raw Registers section.  I'm able to store and retrieve (Export, Import) Hex Values.

Am I surmising correctly that importing Hex Values does not populate the corresponding graphical interface pages?  I.E. linkage of the GUI and Hex Values is not bidirectional?  Is there any software option to enable such linkage?

I'm concluding I should take pains to use the Save and Load functions to archive promising  *.tcs files and use the Export function only when hex values are needed for supporting other tools.  Am I overlooking useful techniques?

Many thanks,

Steve

  • Steve,

No, you are not overlooking something.

The *.tcs file has more information than just the register dump. For instance, it has the XO input frequency on the PLL tab.

For the ramping tab, the GUI takes the user input files and calculates the appropriate regsiters. But if you load the regsiters, then these GUI settings doing get updated correctly. In summary, what I would do is start with the GUI, ensuring the correct XO frequency. Then ensure the PLL tab updates, then manually fix the ramping tab.
